How to Be a Lightworker

The main role of a lightworker is to bring light into the darkness — to make the unconscious conscious. Each one of us has the potential to take up this role. It requires a commitment to seeing the truth for what it is. A commitment to being honest in both perception and action.

So what does it mean to be honest in perception? It is difficult to look at the truth with a clear perception, but it is an essential skill to be able to see the truth of things even when so much seems to be clouded and unclear.

Each one of us has an ego mode of perception and a higher perception. This higher perception is how we are able to look past the ego with consciousness. To look with consciousness is to make the untruths of the ego seen and revealed for their true nature.

The Power of Being Direct and Honest

Looking with consciousness allows something magical to happen. You are able to see and experience things that exist outside all concepts and limitations of 'self', and have the power to allow others to also see them.

Indirectness and lies act like a cancer. I have been upset with people in the past based on minor details that I had no real reason to focus on, I have noticed others holding grudges for decades about things that are not even true, and I have seen the misinterpretation of truth damage both how people see each other and how strong their willingness to be self-aware is.

Sometimes it is easier to believe these stories from the ego than it is illuminating the truth with consciousness. It is easier for the ego to believe that it is inadequate, or that others just intend to deceive it. If we believe this then we become one with the ego rather than acknowledging the truth of the matter.

You Are a Conscious Being

Looking at how others use deceit with consciousness makes it clear that these people are just deceiving themselves. Being conscious makes it possible to realize that most deceit and untruth is not an attack, but a response of fear.

Developing the courage to live through Truth using consciousness is essential to performing light-work. The reason for this is that when we retreat into fear and form lies to defend ourselves we become smaller human beings, we feel less justified and less able to defend ourselves. Truth is the most powerful defence, truth in itself is a defence rather than asking to be defended, like the ego does.

Do Not Run

I've said it before and I will again and again in the future: the single path to self-awareness, to being more spiritual, to finding meaning, and to being a lightworker is being honest. It's simple, 2 words of wisdom that is often cliched and misunderstood. "How can I achieve all that just through being honest?" might be a question that springs to mind.

The answer is that consciousness is truth. Consciousness does not require decades of practice, or special training to experience. It just requires letting go of the stories that the ego loves to tell.

Being honest might start with avoiding telling small lies or running from the truth of things. But where an honest approach ends is realizing The Truth of Being Yourself, which is so much more than the ego ever was. Each of us has the choice to either be conscious in the present moment or to substitute this moment for the desires and the tales that the ego provides. This is the power of self-awareness.

Truth is The Greatest Healer

Being honest is the most powerful method of healing. Being honest in perception is to state: "I acknowledge the true nature of who others are and who I am". It is the most direct method of being sincere with the ego and letting it go. Most other healing methods assume that there is something wrong that needs to be fixed. Healing with consciousness acknowledges that each one of us is perfect at a soul-level and through this honest perception offers a gentle reminder to the true nature of who we are.

Therefore being a lightworker does not require one to teach and impose spiritual ideologies or ideas. Instead there is just a single requirement. Be honest.

Find Your Light and Heal Others

Being honest about who we are allows consciousness to spread and grow. Lies from the ego can also spread and grow when we give them enough attention. The work of a lightworker is to listen to the soft sound of truth that resonates in all of life until the sound of truth begins to outweigh the loudness of the ego.

Once truth can be heard it does not need to be defended or spread, a person who is honest in their actions and perception does enough to bring consciousness into the world without requiring more action than this. Clearing false perceptions and illuminating the tricks of the ego as it hides the truth is enough to bring healing and awareness to those who are unconscious of their ego.
