12 Methods to Become a Better Healer

Each one of us has the potential to be a powerful healer, but this potential is often deterred by unproductive thinking patterns and behaviours. Thinking of healing as a process that just involves the manipulation of subtle energies makes it difficult to be successful at healing. Healing begins with acceptance and awareness - and the energetic transfer comes later.

Understanding the essential components behind healing reduces the learning curves of Reiki, Quantum Touch, and other healing methods that might seem too complex to grasp at first. This article will provide 12 methods to become a better healer. These methods are as applicable to beginners as they are to those already practicing healing.

1. Quietening the Mind

Clear the mind from distractions. Free your mental space to be 100% present. Energy flows where focus goes. If your energy is focused on thoughts it will not go towards the intent of healing.

2. Relaxing

Acquaint yourself with the feelings in your body. Identification of tension points and lost focus due to this tension is crucial.

3. Being more Sensitive

Being sensitive can have a number of meanings. In this context it means being more alert to detect things outside of your current perception. Being more sensitive involves observing and listening to each sound, action, and thought that is present during the healing process.

Methods 1 - 3 all focus on identifying where your energy is being lost to bring it back into focus - Into the Present Moment

You can also follow these methods to further enhance the effects of future healing sessions:

4. Pick a Productive Environment

The location of the healing is just as important as the healing process itself. Choose a location that helps you feel relaxed, reduces the amount your mind is racing, and allows you to become more aware of the process.

5. Change or add to it

Special scents, candles or light music often bring with them an atmosphere that works well for healing. Change or add to the environment where the healing will take place to enhance the effects of the healing.

6. Visualize

Visualizing positive and productive energies in the area prior to commencing the healing has a substantial effect on the outcome. Visualizing comforting, nourishing, and protecting energies being attracted to the room can accommodate this.

7. Intend

Intending or affirming a positive or desired outcome is another effective part of the healing process. State the desired outcome to anchor it right at the beginning of the healing.

8. Breathe

Deep breathing (10 seconds in, 10 seconds out) has a large impact on the amount of energy you are able to utilize throughout the healing process. Practicing deep breathing prior (and sometimes during) a healing session is essential.

9. If you cannot relax - Meditate

Meditation along with breathing prior to commencing healing is another great method to calm the mind and to re-focus your energies on the healing rather than letting your focus wander.

10. Form a connection

Two or more people resonating at the same energetic level is defined as a connection in healing. Form a link when attempting to heal others to attain a more focused state of awareness to direct the flow of energy.

11. Use basic Scanning

Scanning an aura can be done by placing your hands 2-3 inches (5-10cm) away from a person and allowing yourself to sense the energy around them. This might take some practice but it is an excellent preparation technique for healing.

12. Send a Positive Intention

Focus your attention on a feeling of love and gratitude towards the person being healed and yourself. Focusing on connecting on this level is more important than sensing the process of energy-flow.

Practicing each of these 12 methods will strengthen your healing abilities.
