Overcoming FearOur fear is what holds us back from experiencing our full potential. The defence mechanisms we build to escape this fear restrict us to living in a certain level of experience, one that is not in alignment with our true nature. To be in alignment with his or her true self a person must first let go of the fear that clouds their perspective. Holding on to this fear makes it difficult to accept reality as it really is. Often this fear causes us to construct a cover reality that is more appealing and seems more acceptable than the true experience beneath it. It is the initial fear of facing absolute responsibility, and absolute freedom, which causes us to escape into a state of being where we perceive ourselves as inferior, incapable, and not accountable for what goes on in our lives and the world around us. As a result we escape into the shadows of experience rather than facing up to our true purpose. Most of these fears have caused us to forget what that purpose is. Once we begin to let go of the fear and the false sense of reality we have put up our true self becomes known and remembered for what it is. However if we allow our fear to control us then it becomes impossible to remember the true self. Sometimes we forget our true essence so much that it appears as something foreign at first, something new and unknown, and this can also propel fear when we are so accustomed to living through an understanding of the world that is set in stone. However to let go of these false securities is to re-connect with the deeper parts of ourselves that hold true freedom and power and conquer our surface-level fears. If it is these fears then that shape our experience, rather than the true self, then we are bound to be living in a false world. It is the deeper fear of smashing this illusion and accepting our infinite power that so often holds us back. The fear that we were wrong all this time. It is a matter of realizing that the fear itself is not real, it is more of an anxious feeling of facing the unknown, and questioning our core understanding as it stands. Through faith in our greater potential we are able to wake up from this state of anxious caution and fear to push through to our deeper center of power and freedom. It is when we discover that faith that fear dissolves. Holding onto our existing limitations and restricted perceptions is more comforting because those perceptions receive constant validation from others, constant praise and acceptance. The alternative often causes fear because there might be no surface level validation or acceptance in the true experience beneath our social structures. There might be no conformed to standards, no right method to do things, and no set social goals to achieve to feel secure. These things might not be present at all, in fact these things might all be realized for the structured and superimposed illusions that makes them appealing as an escape from our true state of being. Once a person realizes that faith is more genuine than the external validation and acceptance of the surface-level experience then most of these fears can no longer exist in his or her mind. |
