The Role and Power of Language
From AlexanderThe promise of limitation is in the power of language; language limits the animation of inner creative expression. Communication is an expression at a level much deeper than possible to capture and put into words. There is a certain freedom and understanding within each person that is seldom retained when injected into the spoken or written word.
Language is the main blockade to truth. Definition causes limitation and confinement. Set meanings are often used to maintain set realities. Understanding (Meaning) and communication are at the heart of language. The distinction is that although those elements are important to the individual person, language in itself is not.
To separate communication from a finite language it is crucial to realize that the global culture has lost itself to the language of words. The surface of words has often received much more attention than the deeper meaning behind the words. Limited expressions of language are a core fundamental cause of all confusion and discord.
This realization is aimed at disarming the misplaced power behind words. The power to influence with words stretches to the outreach of imagination. The aim of restoring power to the self (internal) is to take it back from language (external). It is well worth noting exchanges that attempt to form a certain agenda or maintain a concept. The breathing space seems to rush from the potential a person has to act to that limited scope. Set ideas and modes of existence are enforced using language.
Communication can cut through the limitations posed in language using at least two methods. The first considers the potential for more than one absolute meaning to be injected into words. It is often effective to seek out new stances and meanings and lateral interpretations of words to give them new possible realities. The second involves considering how meaning takes form in other manifestations of language and communication.
Communication occurs on a multitude of levels all the time but it is common to read into just the conscious or surface level of meaning existing in words. Oftentimes a person will still act according to the subconscious messages put across in different forms of communication whether aware of doing so or not. One aim of increasing the scope of communication is to bring a new light into the shadow of the subconscious and hidden meanings in language - not to constrict ourselves to the limitations of language as a sufficient mode of experience.
