Spiritual Gift Test

The idea of a spiritual gift test is to determine which gifts each unique individual being has to contribute to the world. In Romans 12:6-8 (Bible) each individual is said to have within a unique spiritual talent provided through an innate connection with God (or "Spirit").

Developing these spiritual gifts or even discovering that we have them is something few people accomplish. There is no absolute test that can reveal the unique gift a person has even though there are several tests like this floating around the web. The Chakra Test here at Spiritual Blog is an example of a 10-question test that helps to uncover hidden gifts towards one of the following inclinations -

  1. Compassion and Service
  2. Teaching and Justice
  3. Elemental Magic
  4. Prophetic Revelation and Leadership

These inclinations have a connection to those gifts mentioned in Romans 12:6-8 but are not word-for-word. I think it's important to derive the "essence" behind each word rather than taking the literal route. I also think it's important to note that each one of us has within all of these gifts and that a unique spiritual gift is more like a strength or talent to be developed and honed.

Your unique spiritual gifts are in alignment with Your True Self — this alignment is unique for each person. You might be more drawn on a natural level to teaching or to healing for example.

There are no surprises when discovering these gifts. If it feels natural and intuitive to develop it then follow that path and if not then don't force it.

Three of the gifts talked about in Romans 12:6-8 and the relationship I found them having to spiritual development:

Teaching

Those of us who are lightworkers and have a deep internal need to get to the bottom of things and tell others are well suited to become teachers and share their knowledge with thousands.

Teaching has a strong sharing component involved where the teacher shines the light of consciousness towards an aspect that the student was unconscious of. Both student and teacher are transformed in this process of joint exploration.

Giving

To become healers we must first learn the true nature of receiving and giving. There is a central point in the heart chakra where we become "at balance" with ourselves. This is the point where giving and receiving intersected each other to form the experience of unconditional love.

The most defining characteristic of this experience is not being able to comprehend 'gain' and 'loss' and perceiving eternal abundance instead.

Giving is difficult while believing that people "owe" us or that a true exchange of love can be measured. Individuals who have a strong sense of being able to give and receive without reservation are inclined to discover that this is one of their most fundamental spiritual gifts.

Leading

Throughout historical times there have been great leaders and prophets who have guided civilisation towards conscious evolution. These individuals have a special connection to a divine source of truth and understanding.

Modern Living and Squandering These Gifts

Those of us who have shared genuine love with others just to be shut down will feel inclined to ignore the gift of giving. Likewise when people don't listen to those of us with higher understandings we're inclined to stop talking about them and become introverted. It's important to be mindful of protection resources that are available and to continue pursuing these gifts despite external friction.
