August 2008 Reflections

From Alexander
Posted in News and Opinion on Aug 30th, 2008

Last month I had some requests to turn off registration and allow comments to be added at the bottom of each article without logging in. I decided to offer this as an option. The drawback is that the blog has been receiving a lot more spam, but most of it is getting blocked, and I think that if it makes it easier to add comments then it is worth spending a bit of extra time deleting the spam.

I wanted to do something a bit different at the end of this month. I have been planning to make some changes to the design of this site and I have received a few e-mails asking whether I would consider increasing the width of the design since most screens run at a wider resolution.

It does not bother me, so I thought I would leave it up to readers to decide. I have placed a poll lower down so that I can get a greater idea of the number of readers who would prefer a wider design and those who like the current design.

Thanks for reading this blog and remember to check out the featured articles from the blogosphere at the bottom of this article.

I voted 'No' simply because the site width looks fine to me. However if some people are having problems then you might want to look into increasing it.

Thanks so much for the link!
