Understanding Siddhis

In the pursuit of self-consciousness when a person passes a certain threshold a new dawn of realization appears over the horizon. It brings a new outlook on life. It brings a new level of aggregated understanding. Such a transformation of the self leads a person to be able to interact with existence on a greater level. Not just social existence – but the greater existence and magic of the universe.

Siddhi is an Eastern word meaning supernatural power. The term is often misunderstood when isolated and not considered in the full definition of being the result of higher human potential. In essence Siddhis result from the expansion of self-awareness. Consider it like this: in life all possibilities are present but not all are actualized.

The Higher Self is often discovered in one form or another when experiencing these Siddhis – since the two are linked to each other. This is an element familiar to most of us. It is the part of us that makes moral decisions. Our ego is the part that makes the immoral ones. Transcension of material realities consists of letting go of the finite ego to experience the infinite spirit. Parallels can be drawn here between a Freudian framework and a spiritual esoteric framework. Liberating our imaginative and self-actualizing faculties involves letting go of the child part of ourselves that misperceives these aspects of existence as being childish pursuits.

Once we liberate ourselves from this illusion of mind there is nothing left to stop us from transcending these boundaries to experience real and rewarding benefits such as empathic connections, astral projections, and mystical experiences.
