Embrace Your Freedom to BeOften in life there is a perceived burden to keep our attention active in either our thoughts, feelings, or actions. If we are not doing something with our hands then often our attention goes to thinking or feeling processes.
There is an incessant burden of 'processing' to be occupied. On some level the social environment trains us to be forever 'processing' something, instead of just being. Negative areas of processingThere are three areas in our mind that create more and more processing work to consume our actions, thoughts and feelings in an endless spiral of processing and re-examining. ThoughtsOur mind is capable of producing thoughts that are irrelevant and non-productive over and over again. Some examples of these thoughts are:
FeelingsThe same process can occur with feelings. The mind attempts to process the same feelings over and over until we have overcome or integrated them. Often it also keeps us locked inside feelings rather than transforming those feelings into actions to deal with them. Feelings that do not result in action and are dwelled on for too long often become 'processing' work rather than productive experiences. Events and actions Likewise our actions are often consumed in endless processing of tasks that might or might not be leading us towards a certain goal. Consider which of your actions are constructive and leading towards your goals and which ones will make no difference to how things will be tomorrow. If we continue investing in repetitive actions that bring little or no prospect of change in the future, then like repetitive thoughts and emotions, those actions become mere outlets to facilitate 'processing' potential rather than liberating the mind.
Letting Go and Embracing Your Freedom to BeImagine what it would be like to no longer invest attention in redundant thoughts, feelings and actions like this. Instead of losing something, you gain something instead from freeing up this mental space. There is a distinct sense of freedom available to each one of us: the freedom to be. Not to be done with a task to have some time to think over what's next to come. Not to finish thinking and focus on the feelings associated with those thoughts. Not to go back to the busyness of the mind between tasks. But to experience true freedom to BE. If you think about it – emotions and thoughts are just other types of actions, other types of 'doing'. You are either 'doing' thought processes or 'dealing with' emotions associated with them in between actions. This is the reason people so often feel tired after this entire process. It is not a form of rest to be stuck in the mind that dwells on the past or tomorrow. True rest and freedom is letting go of the processing altogether to clear the mind and allow it to relax, even for a few minutes between processing tasks. |
