The Ocean of "I"

Tapping into the source of unconsciousness leads to the darkness (unknown knowledge) being elucidated (made known). However the self cannot be elucidated without casting a Shadow of inverse proportions to the light of their consciousness and understanding (Jung). The greater the level of elucidation the greater is the Shadow cast.

The self is in between two oceans, one of the ego and one of the heart

It experiences pain because the mind thinks. The mind has thoughts and thus experiences pain when a larger consciousness of being is attempted to be placed into the smaller container of the rational mind. Personal existence becomes limited when it is related to the self rather than expanded into a greater scope of consciousness.

The identification with self causes suffering

The inner revolution of self encourages a person to change their thinking from just: I am all that I know that exists in the universe for certain and thus I am important to a more abstract and reflective model of perception. For instance one alternative is:

The universe is infinite and I can be the embodiment of it whenever I choose and therefore it is important for me to ensure I am alert and receptive in this experience

Each conscious being first exists, and second reaches out to others. If there is one thing that can be defined as a tangible action of all people it is their intent to reach out and connect to the plane of existence outside of themselves. The universe of thoughts, dreams, and ideas can be said to be an ocean of endless depths. Our method to reach into that ocean is to mediate and fuse that consciousness and essence into our finite self.

That method of reaching is achieved in inherent love and I label it love because it results in the highest power of the universe becoming transmitted through the self - the self often begins much lower as a finite form, but contains energetic potential to expand. This ocean however contains a mirror - the mirror of love - fear. If a person steps into this mirrored universe he begins to fear the entire universe and all in it. In other words, the entire self exists in perpetuated fear.

The inherent love spoken about earlier encourages the potential for expansion, where as fear is a feeling associated with contraction and implosion. As a result of not being able to fuse the universe into the transcendental vessel of the self a person begins to project her frustrations and failures of not being able to individuate outwards. Thus in doing so she creates an outer facade of hope, worth, and order. She places dreams of how life should be onto a false material reflecting that dream. The reflection of original love is fear and from that reflection the ego is born. So, a person can be said to have all the required tools to individuate, but is not using it in the right manner and thus causing a reflection in the mirrored universe.

Thank you for a beautiful description of the essential truth of the authentic self.

Whether the Universal "I" is called The Absolute, The Ain Soph, Paranishpanna, Tahwid, The Thing Within Itself, The Unmanifest Tao, The Supreme Nothingness, Agnostos Theo or Being/Non-Being - each of these names symbolize the infinite nature of the One Reality of the Eternal "I".
