1000 Thoughts an Hour vs a Quite Mind

Posted in Good Habits, Health Topics by AlexD on November 14th, 2008

The average person has about 1000 thoughts each hour.

Since most of our life experiences occur within, in the realm of opinion, feeling, and perspective in the mind, it makes sense that out of those 1000 or so thoughts some of them have a huge impact on the experiences that can present themselves from moment to moment.

Our thoughts are the "breathing air" that makes up the world around us.

How to Be a Lightworker

Posted in Health Topics, Modern Spiritual Practice by AlexD on November 6th, 2008

The main role of a lightworker is to bring light into the darkness — to make the unconscious conscious. Each one of us has the potential to take up this role. It requires a commitment to seeing the truth for what it is. A commitment to being honest in both perception and action.

So what does it mean to be honest in perception? It is difficult to look at the truth with a clear perception, but it is an essential skill to be able to see the truth of things even when so much seems to be clouded and unclear.

Introduction to Tantric Sex

Posted in Health Topics, Modern Spiritual Practice by AlexD on November 4th, 2008

In the previous post I talked about how spiritual awareness is essential to being capable of sharing a genuine intimate connection with another human being. In this article I'll discuss how tantric practices can bring spiritual development and sex together.

Tantric sex places the focus first and foremost on bringing two people closer together. This involves developing an intimate connection that is somewhat different from what we often term 'intimate' when thinking of sex. I wrote about the reason developing a genuine connection is more important than using sex for negative gains in the the previous article I posted entitled "The Spiritual Guide to Better Sex".

You Are Your Greatest Obstacle to Your Own Happiness

Posted in Health Topics by AlexD on September 16th, 2008

How often have you noticed yourself thinking "I knew this would happen" after something negative happened? Your future is often the product of decisions on a conscious or subconscious level that were made long before their outcomes fell into place. It is not just true that you can predict the results of your present actions will have on the future but it is also true that by looking at which subconscious choices you are selecting you are able to dynamically change the course of the future.

10 Lessons From The Buddha

Posted in Health Topics by AlexD on September 5th, 2008

"A dog is not considered a good dog because he is a good barker. A man is not considered a good man because he is a good talker."

Our actions are not always in alignment with our thoughts and inner process. Sometimes we judge a person based on their behaviour in one event and fail to consider the whole individual.

Is Quantum Touch better than Reiki?

Posted in Health Topics by AlexD on August 17th, 2008

One of the several questions I was asking myself when I first learned about energetic healing is: which healing method is the best or easiest to learn? Learning energetic healing has a number of benefits that extend past just the healing experience itself. For effective healing to occur, a person must change their entire outlook on the process. If doubt or lack of confidence in the process exists then it becomes difficult to work with all energetic systems.

Strange Medical Symptoms and Alternative Explanations

Posted in Health Topics by AlexD on August 15th, 2008

Even though modern medicine has gained a certain degree of trust when we are looking for an explanation for physical and mental symptoms, there are times when our medical system utterly disregards other possibilities for what we may be feeling or experiencing.

This blind and almost arrogant approach to diagnosing physical and mental sensations is often completely oblivious to causes outside the reach of common medical knowledge. Many spiritually oriented and extrasensory symptoms are confused for dysfunctions, and oftentimes interpreted as something that should be cured.

Overcoming Fear

Posted in Health Topics by AlexD on July 18th, 2008

Our fear is what holds us back from experiencing our full potential. The defence mechanisms we build to escape this fear restrict us to living in a certain level of experience, one that is not in alignment with our true nature.

To be in alignment with his or her true self a person must first let go of the fear that clouds their perspective. Holding on to this fear makes it difficult to accept reality as it really is. Often this fear causes us to construct a cover reality that is more appealing and seems more acceptable than the true experience beneath it.

Depression and Spiritual Healing

Posted in Health Topics, Self-Consciousness by AlexD on July 6th, 2008

Our modern world seldom allows emotions to be expressed in an uninhibited voice. If we continue being disallowed to express our true emotions the feelings become de-pressed into the subconsciousness and manifest outward as a state of dissonance.

If a person becomes depressed doctors attempt to treat the depression - like a rash. Instead of facilitating the exploration and release of the suppressed emotion a person who is depressed is often regarded as someone who is sick.

The main problem that comes up when emotions are blocked is that our own responses and feelings get labelled as inappropriate or wrong. Often this causes a person to shift their perspective from expressing their true feelings to feeling broken and needing someone to fix them. It is no wonder that there are few stories about people who have fixed depression, but there are a lot of stories about people who have understood the emotions being suppressed and in dealing with them have overcome their depressed state.
