The Happiness Trap Self-Consciousness Technique

Posted in Reviews, Tutorials by AlexD on September 17th, 2008

The Happiness Trap (Russ Harris) is a book I read some time ago that talks about the limitations our own search for happiness can end up creating. In this article I would like to summarise a technique the book discusses in chapter 4: "The Great Storyteller", which introduces the idea that we tell ourselves stories about our own life that might not be accurate reflections of the truth.

12 Excellent Posts from the Spiritual Blogosphere

Posted in Reviews by AlexD on September 6th, 2008

I looked at this blog's web statistics when I woke up to find that I had received more visitors in the last 24 hours than I have in the last month. So I wanted to give special thanks to Irene from Light Beckons who stumbled the last article I wrote "10 Lessons From The Buddha". As a result I received a lot of positive reception on this article, perhaps less than more popular blogs receive for each of their articles, but 2000 9000 readers for a single article in 24 hours is much more than I have received in the past. So I wanted to express my gratitude for her help in getting the word out about the article and this blog.

Return to One e-book Review

Posted in Reviews by AlexD on September 1st, 2008

Return to One is an e-book from Cathy Preston. It is one of the most insightful novels I have read on the spiritual path I am on. I posted a review at return-to-one.com in 2006 when the book was first made available, and I thought I would repost a revised review here for those who have not come across her site. The e-book costs £8 and is available to download from return-to-one.com.

How to Heal Using Colour and Music

Posted in Reviews by AlexD on August 29th, 2008

I have noticed that opening up to colours and sounds can help a person unlock their inner creative and healing potential. On a conscious level we seldom consider the idea of colour and sound as elements that have a deeper resonance and power, sometimes we do not appreciate their essential nature.

It can at first take some time and some relaxation to allow the energies of colour and sound to permeate the inner human aura. Focusing on a deep blue or bright red color, for example, can bring forth quite diverse energies depending on how the colour affects our inner state.

In The Five-Minute Healer, the author explors the effect of mantras on the aura and how we feel after being around different sound vibrations. In addition to creating sounds, the author also brings attention to the importance of filling a room with a consistent sound and resonance. Dissonant sounds create discord in our energetic vibration, and utilizing a harmonic sound generator can often enough block out the negative sound patterns all around us, the book explains.

Focusing on Colours and Music

1. In meditation or before falling asleep, focus on just one single colour and hold onto the feeling this colour resonates to benefit from the energetic power that it holds within it.

2. Listen to some relaxing music or leave a consistent sound tone on during sleep to wake up rested and refreshed from deeper sleep.

During the last 3 months we have been going to the shops at the end of each month to see whether the wii fit console was available. Each month the sales manager would explain that wii fit consoles are selling out 5 minutes after arrival at each order date. Pre-orders were also not being taken. However last month we arrived at the shop, and guess what happened?

Our Ultimate Reality - Review

Posted in Reviews by AlexD on June 24th, 2008

Some weeks ago I was requested to write a review of Our Ultimate Reality, an e-book written in 2005 that has become increasingly popular online. Even though I ultimately found that this book does not offer much original information, it does provide a good overview of a number of spiritual and mystical concepts to those who have just begun to stumble upon them. GMCKS Pranic Healing Centre in Perth

Posted in Reviews by AlexD on June 1st, 2008

GMCKS Pranic Healing Centre in Perth offers a number of courses on pranic healing that train no-touch based healing techniques. I took the three-levels of pranic healing courses back in 2006 and although I did disagree with most of the theoretical information presented the training does illustrate how to sense and manipulate subtle energies using pranic healing methods.
