Fake Psychic Sessions

Posted in Modern Spiritual Practice by AlexD on May 31st, 2008

The lure of the unknown, the mystical, and the magical, is present during our lives at one time or another. For children this magical hope and experience of the limitless and the infinite is always a grand wonder. This wonder stays with us and transforms as we age. Perhaps we do not wish to know whether lands of fairy tales exist later on in life, and instead just want to know what the future holds for us, what our significant other is hiding, or perhaps just the winning numbers for the next million dollar cash prize. The Lack of Spiritual Education in Schools

Posted in News and Opinion by AlexD on May 30th, 2008

Our school systems produce a specific work environment expectation for the future. School systems shape what the ideal future individual looks like. Read the rest of this entry »

The Importance of Independence

Posted in Personal and Guest Entries by AlexD on May 30th, 2008

In this blog post I would like to allude to an article that compliments my view on the importance of independence, and not just in spiritual pursuits, but in all of our actions. Every once in a while the New age will get glimpse of some powerful idea and transform it into a form of social marketing. The Secret and The Power of Now (socially-friendly version) are two examples. Read the rest of this entry »

Personal Discoveries

Posted in Self-Consciousness by AlexD on May 30th, 2008

Making discoveries that mean something does not make them real for others. Landing on the moon is complete for the person who has done it but incomplete for one who has not. The discoveries on a personal level such as; listening to a song for the first time or learning how to speak or a first kiss; are unique to each person. However instead of experiencing new things with expectations or social bias we could just as easily experience them in the fullness of awareness. Read the rest of this entry »

Thought, Emotion, and Motor awareness

Posted in Self-Consciousness by AlexD on May 29th, 2008

How does a person go about practicing awareness? The method of awareness is self-examination without judgment. Judgment (especially when emotion-based) tends to cause attachment and clouds perception. For inner-work that is clear and meaningful the self has to be examined from moment to moment with some level of disconnected awareness. This process is applied in observing the manifestation of the Self in three centers:

  • Emotional
  • Cognitive
  • Motor

Self Surrender

Posted in Self-Consciousness by AlexD on May 29th, 2008

Surrender results in the realization that attachment is both an illusion and a weak energetic force. Once the illusion is no longer fed attention can be given to other areas of being and existence. Rather than leaning or depending on an external structure attention can instead be drawn to the individual self. Read the rest of this entry »

3 Blocks to Knowing Thyself

Posted in Self-Consciousness by AlexD on May 27th, 2008

Block 1: Mental Entrainment

The process of assuming an internal role leads to that role becoming externalized into the outer world. Transcendental perception of the individual (and not a perception on roles) emphasizes a different method for perceiving the self and others. Entrainment on the other hand is a subconscious identification with roles. Read the rest of this entry »

Do You Own Anything Really?

Posted in Modern Spiritual Practice by AlexD on May 26th, 2008

One method of transcending limitation in language is to determine whether it is possible to have or to own something. If it is determined that there is something to have then it is interesting to attempt to let that thing go. How could this be done? Realizing that in nature all things are transitional helps us let go of them to be able to transcend materialism. Read the rest of this entry »

Too Much Talk

Posted in Modern Spiritual Practice by AlexD on May 26th, 2008

Intention and self-will are at the center of human experience. Intention is often transferred into meaning through language. However the intention is often lost in the process. The state of mass confusion in existence that is ruled through the scope of words rather than true intentions leads to the essence of meaning being covered in a cloud of disillusion.

Intention can be reconnected when we change our focus from words to other subtle methods of communication. Some examples are music, or art, or even silence. Silence often communicates more than words themselves! Read the rest of this entry »
